Pakur incident is a result of 12 years of continuous degradation in law & order which accentuated in the President’s rule and will deteriorate further if Government is formed in the State, opined veterans of major political parties of the State.

According to Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Saryu Roy, political parties yearning for forming a government in the State will do more harm to the law & order situation than good. “People part of the government that will be formed under prevailing circumstances will have their own objectives. They will not do anything to improve law & order situation,” said Roy.

Roy criticised the manner in which Police is being treated by officials who communicate directly to the lowest man in Police hierarchy which has been diluted as a result of that. “The meeting between Police and Advisor that took place appeared like a meeting of political party and its workers,” said Roy adding “junior officials often get plum posting due to a direct link between senior officials and ministers.”

Roy’s stand was echoed by senior Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) leader Pradeep Yadav. Yadav reiterated Roy’s stand that law & order has been a problem since inception and do not expect either the present or future government to work in the direction of improving law & order situation.

Political parties are also partly to blame for the spread of Naxalism in the State, added Yadav. “Naxalism has not cemented its place in Santhal. If the government and political parties start focussing on the area to win hearts of people I am sure Naxals can be banished from the area,” said Yadav.

Political parties need to become active areas where naxals visit regularly to recruit cadres, said Yadav.
