Balumath police in latehar are still in hot pursuit of a man who has taken up a fake name, Nirbhay. This man is giving sleepless nights to Tetarya Kharn colliery officials, delivery order holders, transporters, CCl officials and contractors for extracting levy.
On Friday, Balumath police nabbed Nirbhay’s accomplice Shekhar Thakur a man involved in 22 cases. He is a notorious criminal known in Chatra, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh and Ranchi districts for loot, said SP latehar Anoop Birtharey. SP latehar said police have seized one Indica car in which this Thakur was travelling along with two other Ganjhus of Balumath who (these two) succeeded in remaining absconding. Thakur was caught without any resistance.
Police have recovered one country-made pistol from Thakur, who is on bail. But this Friday, he has been remanded in judicial custody in latehar. On being asked if this Indica car is Thakur’s genuine vehicle or is any stolen one Birtharey said, “As per Thakur’s version he bought this car in Ranchi. Police will ascertain the verity of Thakur’s claim of purchase.”
Nirbhay is still at large but with Thakur behind bars Nirbhay has weakened most, believed SP latehar. Police have got a clinching evidence against Nirbhay as seizure from Thakur gave police the same sim which Nirbhay used to make extortion calls to CCl officials and other coal trade related people. Nirbhay used to identify himself as Commander of JPC which used to create fear among the called ones admitted SP.
However, the arrest of Thakur has given a jolt to this fake name person Nirbhay who may go into hiding for some time to let the pressure of the police relax on him. Police have turned the table on Nirbhay now as his name duplicity is now public in the whole of latehar and he will find it hard to extract levy from officials said sources.
