The Ranchi Municipal Corporation has indentified 341 acres of land for area-based development which is one component of the Smart City Project. The land will be used to develop a variety of infrastructure that would reflect use of smart solutions for various types of amenities.
A preliminary round of consultation has been conducted on Friday at the RMC to include citizens' views and opinions of people's representatives for developing the area. The land identified for implementing the smart city project belongs to Heavy Engineering Corporation limited.
“The land would be handed over as the State Government is on the verge of approving the land. `5,500-crore project will be developed on PPP-mode and with the Centre-State funds,” said Deputy Mayor of RMC, Sanjeev Vijaywargiya.
Around half of the area would be developed with public-private participation, whereas the remaining half would be developed with funds likely to be contributed by the Central and State Governments. A final proposal on areas-based development would be sent to the Central Government for financial assistance with infrastructure projects.
The brainstorming over area-based development as part of the Smart City project was attended by Kanke MlA Jeetu Charan Ram; Mayor of RMC Asha lakra; Town Commissioner Prashant Kumar and representatives of political party.
The development plan was shared through PowerPoint presentation and views were sought for the various aspects of the infrastructure projects.
The proposed site would feature knowledge centres, residential areas for all income group, commercial areas, recreational areas, mixed-use places, open and green areas. Special emphasis was given to distribution of space among the infrastructures that will be developed.
“The place should be developed in such a manner that all important amenities are covered. Special attention should be given to develop state-of-the-art educational institutions starting from play school to higher education so as to make it hub of educational activities. Healthcare facilities should also be developed,” added lakra.
The Kanke MlA praised the efforts of the RMC and the smart city cell for the roadmap to develop the area. The presentation also depicted advance traffic system and road map for other facilities as well.
