Residents of Kundree under lesliganj police station blocked Daltonganj Panki road for more than three hours on Monday protesting against the delay in the autopsy of Rekha Devi (35). Confirming the road blockade the officer in charge of lesliganj police station Niranjan Oraon said Rekha Devi was hit by a four wheeler at Kundree on July 17 night who was rushed to the sadar hospital in Daltonganj where she succumbed to her road accident injuries. The family and the locals wanted the postmortem to be done on the intervening night of July 17/18. Postmortem at night is allowed by DC under extreme sensitive condition wherein there lurks imminent danger to law and order or there is a serious apprehension of eruption of social or communal disharmony.

However the postmortem was done on Monday morning and this had caused anger to the locals who sat on Daltonganj Panki road. Police have registered the case and the vehicle has been seized. The road blockade was lifted on the assurances of social security cover to be given to Rekha Devi’s family announced by the lesliganj BDO said OC lesliganj Niranjan Oraon.
