On the concluding day of Konar Mahotsava intellectuals discussed on the topic ‘Government, Society and Opportunities’ in Vivekananda Auditorium of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh on Saturday.

DC Mukesh Kumar started the discussion citing several examples and quotes of different philosophers of the world and said that scenario can be changed by such type of exchange of views and discussions.

Chief Guest Mahua Majhi stressed upon the position of women in the society and made the gathering aware about two main issues which can take the state in its grip. Talking about surrogate mother, women trafficking and child marriage evils she said that there are many problems which cannot be solved by the government so we all should try to change our mindset. It will get reflected in the society and then opportunities can be in cashed.

Ex-Principal of Markham College of Commerce, Dr Shivdayal Singh, said, “Our society is divided on the name of religion, caste, race etc. Everyone thinks upon his own benefit, no one talks or thinks about the society. That is why there is discontent everywhere. So if we want to change the scenario we should change ourselves first.”

Journalist Baijnath Mishra said that the degradation in society gets reflected in government that is why especially the coming generation is worried about decrease in opportunities. After independence we chose democracy keeping in view that it will act as a tool to eradicate evils from the society but today we can say that it has failed. Due to vote politics both government and society is declining. Corruption has entered in media also but there is hope because opportunities are infinite and individual efforts can change the scenario.

Journalist Anuj Kumar Sinha said that today both society and government have become synonyms of corruption, judiciary has become a symbol of idleness and media has become a business for that all are responsible. It can be changed only when every individual will try and contribute his best in exploring and creating opportunities.

Journalist Harinarayan Singh said, “Man is a social animal so it is our responsibility to change the society. When society will change government will also change and automatically there will be more opportunities for everyone.”

Journalist Anupam Sheshank said, “We are responsible for making the society and government so by mere criticism things cannot change.” He gave two small ideas to the Deputy Commissioner, walk right and making reflector necessary on every vehicle especially cycle and trailers of tractor with a hope that Hazaribagh will lead on this front in entire country.

VC Prof. Gurdeep Singh announced that VBU has got NAAC accreditation today which will create new opportunities for its students. PVC Dr. MP Sinha briefed the entire discussion by saying that scenario can change by individual and collective efforts.
