Kidnappers now demand AK-47 for release of the abducted. One such kidnapping where the demand of two AK-47s was made has been cracked by the SP latehar Michael S Raj. The Pioneer spoke to him to know this. Here are the excerpts of the conversation.
In the kidnapping of one Md Chand of Sheregara there was a demand for either two AK-47s or for 80 lakhs of rupees for the release. Is this the factIJ
Yes. Very much. There was the demand for two AK 47s. If it was not coming then 80 lakhs as ransom.
Was any of the two met by the kidnapped familyIJ
None. Neither AK 47 nor any money. There was no ransom paid at all. He walked to freedom without any premium paid.
It is further said a man in his near twenties who sells insurance policies offered to act as mediator between the kidnapper and the kidnapped Chand’s familyIJ
Yes, There appeared a man like this who sells insurance policies. He wanted to act as a mediator.
No, but this man turned out to be a great impersonator as he has worn the name of an area commander of the Maoist of the areaIJ
The so called Mediator as you mentioned really turned out to be an impersonator as he masqueraded as an area commander having a different name and went on assuring
Chand’s family not to bother any more while the truth was this man, the impersonator was duping people by abusing their ID proof and address proof. With these proofs this man used to buy different kinds of SIM cards with which he used to make dubious calls.
Where is now this man, the great impersonator who dared to masquerade as area commander of the CPI MaoistIJ
He is cooling his heels in the latehar jail now.
Why after all this man who sold insurance policies indulged in such a dubious dealIJ
In lure of easy money or what more one can say.
How did you crack this case of kidnapping of Md ChandIJ
We got picked up the kin of the kidnappers. It helped built tremendous pressures on the kidnappers. I agree it took a bit linger time but Chand remained safe and unhurt as the kidnappers knew anything untoward to Chand would boomerang upon their kin.
