Kechki to be new tourist destination

PNS

The Forest Rest House at Kechki is set to receive tourists from this November end. Situated on the bank of two rivers Auranga and Koyal this is a suitable spot for eco tourism.

Sources said this rest house at Kechki had been a haven of gamblers as no tiger reserve officials were bothered to take care of it. Member State Wild life Board D S Srivastava bats for revival of this water body which is filled with silt and invasive grasses and plants.

Years of neglect had cast a gloomy shadow over it. However DFO Premjit Anand endeavoured to get the rest house back to its cozy comfort look.

DFO Core A K Mishra said this rest house has two bedrooms with double bed facility and attached bath room and each comes for just `400 for 24 hours time. No wild animal is here around except the gurgling sound of the cool and cal two rivers which are rain fed.

Asked as to why tourists would come here as this Kechki has nothing more to show except the confluence of the two rivers Auranga and Koyal here Mishra replied, “Eco tourism brings a tourist closer to Nature and a tourist mostly loves to spend his/her time far from the madding crowd'.

Again asked if night stay here would be safe for ladies and girls form the bulk of tourists here he said “The place is in lap of nature and yonder a river Koyal there is a highly-populated village Osaney where the locals want the tourists to spend their nights  for which the villagers have vouched to provide all safety and security as tourists here will mean extra money for these villagers”.

Mishra said the cattle of Palamu’s Osanay village come to latehar district's Kechki for grazing by just crossing the rain water river Koyal. He asked if cattle come and spend their day at Kechki why not the villagers will lend helping hand to tourists hereIJ

Sources said there is a silted water body just close to this rest house at Kechki. DFO Core Mishra said the PTR authorities would like to revive this water body as on its revival it will provide water sport like boat riding for tourists.

The DFO Core agreed that this may take time but if it is revived then it will be an asset for eco tourism here.
