JVM general secretary and leader of party’s legislative body Pradeep Yadav was arrested and later released by the police. Yadav along with other leaders and supporters of the party were protesting against rising crime graph, rampant corruption and failure of schemes under the Hemant Soren Government and going to gherao the Secretariat on Monday.
Yadav was leading a march towards Secretariat in the morning when they were stopped by the police near DPS Chowk in Harmu Road. When they persisted, the City SP and the SDO ordered to arrest the leaders and sent them to the guest house of JAP-I at Doranda from where they were released after couple of hours.
“The Government had failed on all the fronts. It is sitting idle on price rise and on the law and order situation. We had decided to express the anger of the people and gherao the Secretariat but police have stopped us,” said Yadav addressing the media briefly.
Similar protests were also seen in Dhanbad, Palamu, Garhwa, Jamshedpur, Chaibasa and other parts of the State. In Dhanbad the protest was led by party supremo Babulal Marandi where a scuffle over burning an effigy also broke out between the members of JVM and Congress. Marandi while rapping the Government said pathetic situation of the State is not hidden from anyone.
