lack of information on subject matter and on certain laws creates hurdle in solving cases. There must be clarity in the implementation procedure and related issues. Important amendments related to juvenile and women issues must be dealt with care,” said, Ajay Kumar Singh, ADG CID while addressing police personnel present in a workshop to sensitize police personnel about the amended Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 organized by the police department in association with UNICEF to impart knowledge among police officials on different facets of the recently amended Act.

Often, cases related to juvenile manhandling are reported frequently depicting lack of sensitivity on the part of police while dealing with the cases. “According to reports, more than 15 per cent cases which are reported involve children and women. The police personnel must be familiar with the laws and the amendments. It sensitizes the officers to deal with the cases accordingly. There are several watchdogs that examine the work of police department. Besides administrative action, one should be familiar with the legal facets involved in the case,” stated, IG CID, Sampat Meena.
