The list comprises reputed Hindi novelist Mahua Manjhi as chairperson assisted by members Shabnam Parveen and Kiran Kumari.

“In the last three years, rare cases have got a solution after approaching JSWC. Most have remained pending. In fact, many of the applications given by sufferers have not any response. I swear to regularly update such women who seek our help,” said Kiran, who is working as an advocate for past 30 years.

According to this lawyer, both urban and rural women are tortured by their in-laws. Unfortunately, they fail to raise a high voice at JSWC due to lack of information on laws protecting them from physical and mental harassment. Providing financial independence to housewives is also a concern for this member.

Adding further she said, “Many of the districts still do not have family courts. I assure to organise regular family courts at every district.” Supporting Kiran’s views, member Shabnam-cum-a-social activist of Bokaro said, “We three ought to work for better lives of all the women residing in our State. Be whatever, I will work hard for the women suffering from domestic violence or are trapped in the shackles of trafficking.”

The chairperson however is mulling to do something different besides these opinions. “Initially, I will collect suggestions from various women organisations on how to trace and tackle out crime against women prevailing in our region,”said Mahua.
