After the extended date to fill forms of the Mains for the 6th Civil Services the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) is readying itself to hold the examination. Top sources with the Commission quipped that as per plans the second stage test would be conducted around December-January.
The admission is a big relief for the nearly 40,000 aspirants who are waiting for a sort of clarity from the JPSC in the light of latest court orders and grievances of those who could not quality the preliminary test.
“The Mains examination is expected in December-January. We are in touch with examination centers at district levels for their availability. As soon as that is done the dates would be finalised and are likely to be announced by November,” JPSC Secretary Jagjit Singh informed The Pioneer on Thursday.
The Commission had published revised result of the preliminary examination following the State Cabinet decision and declared about 34,000 more aspirants qualified for the Mains examination taking the total number to around 40,000.
There result through came to glare again after a candidate approached the High Court and later Supreme Court from where a decision was passed directing the JPSC to induct him into the list of the qualified candidates. The decision had feared that other candidates may also approach the court seeking similar relief.
“That is an ongoing activity here. People keep approaching the court. As of now we are not worried about that. If any direction from courts comes it would be looked into as per the merit. Our next aim is to hold Mains examination smoothly,’ said the Secretary.
He at the same time also snubbed reports about a change proposed into the examination patterns of the Mains. Some unconfirmed reports suggested that the Commission is mulling to switch from present descriptive-cum-objective pattern to completely objective type exam citing time constraints. “These are nothing but just rumors. No proposal from our part has been moved to the Government. As of now I also not aware of any such proposal coming from the Government side either. The Commission is going ahead with declared examination pattern which is a mix of objective and descriptive type of questions,” said Jagjit Singh.
