Unable to get over its crushing defeat in Lok Sabha elections, the State Congress is yet to get back to poll mode ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled in the end of the year. The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) headquarter witnessed another brawl on Monday as one faction of party workers tried to create ruckus when JPCC president Ajoy Kumar tried to preside meeting of the party district presidents.
On Monday, a group led by former State Spokesperson, Jogindar Singh Beni tried to stop Kumar from entering the office but the security guards thwarted them to prevent Kumar entering the party headquarter to attend the meeting.
It was the first meeting after announcement of Lok Sabha election results chaired by Kumar he called all district presidents along with the party officials of various wings. Since last couple months the State Congress is facing infighting among senior party leaders. Some days earlier eight times MLA from Jamtara, Furkan Ansari had openly said that Kumar is responsible for defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. Another party veteran and former State Chief Pradip Kumar Balmuchu had also shown his unhappiness over Kumar’s functioning as the State PCC Chief.
During the meeting, while talking to media Kumar said that the party will take action against anti party workers who are damaging image of the grand old party. He said that the party has started its preparation for the upcoming State Assembly Elections in the State.
“The party is trying to make alliance with likeminded party and it is sure that an able and effective alliance will be formed and the party must perform better in the elections,” said Kumar.
State PCC Spokesperson Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo said that during the meeting, with consent of all district presidents and presidents of various wings of the party a proposal was passed that that JPCC will work in leadership of Ajoy Kumar and a proposal was also passed that if any district level party workers or officials making any anti party statements then he or she will be penalised.
“It was also decided during the meeting that the JPCC will celebrated birth anniversary of Bharatratna and former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi on August 20 on Block and District level. On the occasion the party workers will organise blood donation camp, sapling plantation programme and others,” said Shahdeo.
Similar incidents took place on June 8, when State Congress Incharge, RPN Singh visited the State to held review meeting on Lok Sabha elections results. A group led by Former Ranchi Mahanagar Congress president Surendra Singh and former Spokesperson Rakesh Sinha created uproar and tried to disturb the meeting. RPN Singh had to intervene to pacify them as they were demanding resignation of the State PCC Chief.
