The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Friday attacked the Centre for not withdrawing the year 2019 notification declaring the Parasnath region under the eco sensitive zone. The party has urged the followers of Jainism to understand BJP's ploy. JMM General Secretary cum Spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said on Friday that the Government of India has not withdrawn the August 2019 notification of the Union Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change in the Parasnath-based Sammed Shikhar case. Rather, it has taken the initiative to ban the sale of drugs and all intoxicants, playing loud music and use of loudspeakers only in the Parasnath mountain region.
Bhattacharya said that since the beginning, JMM has been demanding the abolition of the August 2019 gazette. Addressing media persons at the party headquarters on Friday Bhattacharya said, on January 3, the JMM had raised the issue that the sentiments of Jains were hurt by the conspiracy of the BJP. However, it was publicised in the country and abroad that the Hemant Soren led government declared Parasnath as an eco-tourism area. An attempt was made to malign the image of Jharkhand by the conspiracy of BJP, he said.
The party also targeted Union minister cum BJP leader Amit Shah, who is scheduled to visit Chaibasa on January 7. Supriyo said, a day before Amit Shah's visit, the Government of India intervened in the Parasnath case, while this should have been done in 2019 itself.
