With multi-colour placards and artistically designed leaflets, campaigning is in full swing now in Madhupur.  Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who is camping at Madhupur addressed several public meetings on Monday. At Telaiya More Maidan the public meeting was attended by JMM candidate Hafizul Hassan, Jamtara MLA Irfan Ansari, Congress Poreyahat MLA Pradeep Yadav among others.

Appealing to the people to vote in favour of JMM candidate Hafizul, the Chief Minister said that the definition of elections nowadays has changed. People have understood politics as business rather than a social service. Our main rival BJP is a party that calls itself the largest party in the world, but has no grassroots candidate to contest election. Soren taking a dig at BJP said, “BJP is such a big party that it does not even have its own candidate.  The BJP is a party which is full with leaders from different parties having different ideologies.”   He said that people should be aware and careful with such dirty politics of BJP. He said, “We have made Hafizul Hassan a minister in my Cabinet as JMM candidate from Madhupur and it is an effort of the party to pay tribute to the late Haji Saheb, the Jharkhand agitator who worked for people.”

The Chief Minister was referring to BJP candidate Ganga Narayan Singh, who switched sides to BJP from AJSU last month. In the last Assembly election, BJP and AJSU fought separately. AJSU Ganga Narayan Singh received around 45,000 votes.

Apart from public meetings, leaders from both the camps are focusing on door to door campaigns. In this connection, JMM candidate and minority affairs minister Hafizul Hassan Ansari on Monday visited various areas interacting with voters and making an appeal to vote for JMM candidate. The JMM candidate is being supported by Congress and RJD too.

Congress state spokesperson Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo said, “Due to the corona pandemic we are focusing on a door to door campaign. The JMM candidate along with his supporters in a small group is reaching out to people addressing small public meetings at Chowks, villages and mohallahs.” He said, “During the campaign the JMM candidate is highlighting the work carried out by Hemant Soren government during this corona pandemic times such as providing ration cards to 15 lakh beneficiaries, lungi dhoti and saree at affordable rate among others.”  Apart from holding small meetings,

Meanwhile, BJP Sarath MLA Randhir Singh and BJP candidate Ganga Narayan Singh took out door to door campaign visiting villages such as Bhalgada, Belkiari, Lakarchara, Pratappur, Dindakoli, Salatar, Gauripur and urging the people to vote for BJP.

The BJP leaders during the campaign targeted the Grand Alliance government’s failure to meet people's expectations.  BJP senior leader Babulal Marandi, State BJP president Deepak Prakash and former Chief Minister  Raghubar Das too are camping in Madhupur.
