Following the successful events in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, the State Government is heading to the national Capital tomorrow in order to woo investors.
In all probability, the Industry Department, besides showcasing lucrative investment avenues in Jharkhand to the industry, would also ink as many as three pacts with top companies seeking opportunities here.
Information coming in just ahead of Chief Minister Raghubar Das heading a strong delegation to Delhi on Wednesday evening for the two-day event, suggests that MoUs with cement sector leader ACC and computer firm HP limited were on the cards first and foremost.
"Three MoUs will be signed that include one with the ACC for making investment to the tune of Rs 730 cr. Two other agreements would be signed involving HP limited for making investment in the fields of telemedicine along with higher education," Industry Director K Ravi Kumar told The Pioneer over phone from Delhi.
Notably, the Cabinet at its Tuesday meeting had cleared the draft of the MoU to be signed with HP for building cloud computing based digital classrooms in five institutions of higher and technical education in the State. later, the facilities would be extended to other engineering and polytechnic institutes.
The Industry Director further said that the Department had also identified as many as 12 sectors in which investment opportunities would be looked into. "We believe that mining and quarrying activities along with the field of heavy industry do not need to be showcased. Jharkhand is already known for that. Instead, the Government had indentified 12 sectors which would be presented before the potential investors during the roadshow," said Ravi Kumar.
Primarily, the areas identified include medium and small industries, tourism, plastic industry, textile, carbon-based companies, power generating companies especially, for solar energy, information technology and BPO etc.
Top officials of the Department are of the view that due to the exercise a handful of investors could be attracted towards the State in relatively newer and not much explored segments.
"As of now, nearly 300 different industries have registered with us to be present during the roadshow which is going to take place at a hotel and also at Pragati Maidan. The interaction with interested companies would be more promotional in nature during which we would try to inform them about advantages available with the State and policies in place with the Government. Our entire team would be present to clear their doubt," said a senior officer of the Industry Department.
Sources in the Department also admitted that they may have to do lots of explaining before the investors in terms of law and order situation, Naxal menace and proper functioning of the single window system.
"Besides the single window, we are also trying to inform them about our start-up policy and steps taken so far. law and order is an issue but the Government has been successful in taming it up to an extent," added the official.
