Clearly aiming to provide fillip to industrial growth, especially in the field of iron and steel, the Government has decided to sign three more agreements with the Centre for steel plants in the State. Out of the three plants, one would be Ultra-mega Steel Plant with around 10 million tonne capacity.
While lauding the Centre for cooperating with a “backward State” like Jharkhand, Chief Minister Raghubar Das revealed about this on Tuesday. “I on the behalf of 3.5 crore people of Jharkhand congratulate the Narendra Modi’s Government for completion of one year in the office. The Centre, in five months, has given special attention towards the backwardness of the State that has resulted in the form of Sindri plant revival, railways projects and many others. I am glad to inform that three more steel plants are coming up in Jharkhand for which we would be signing MoUs with the Centre soon,” said Das.
The steel plants would come up at Chakradharpur, Saraikela and West Singhbhum region of the State which is known for its iron ore deposits. On its part, the Centre had expressed willingness for setting up UMSP in the State with SAIl and RINl along with NMDC as nodal agency.
The Chief Minister who was taking stock of the functioning of ‘Jan Samvad Kendra’, the call centre set up for grievance redressal, vowed to expand it more. “It is extremely encouraging to know the advances the call centre has made since its inauguration on May 1. I am pleased as it has been a step towards making the governance responsible, transparent, sensitive and sincere towards common man. People should get basic facilities as they are putting on small-small problems before the Government. The way the officials are dealing with their complaints, it is indeed pleasing for me,” said the CM.
In its 26 days of functioning, the call centre has attracted nearly 5300 direct conversations with people while 1933 complains have been registered; mostly related to water, power, road and about effectiveness of social sector schemes. Secretary to the CM Sunil Burnwal said that 113 complaints had been disposed of whereas 1023 were in progress. Officials of the call centre even take a feedback from the complainants. In future, the cell would accept grievances even through voice mail round the clock and would be integrated with online complaint system started earlier. Service centres would also come up where handwritten complaints can be accepted, scanned and uploaded for redressal.
The CM, on Tuesday, interacted with about 10 of the randomly selected complainants who were pitched directly before the concerned officials at local level.
Mumtaz Ansari of Torar presented his case about dysfunctional hand pumps in his village while Amit Kumar Sinha looked dissatisfied with the reply he got on his appointment in cooperative bank. “They did not listen to my point. I have all the papers and go to court against the cheating done to me,” said Sinha outside.
“I have directed DCs and SPs to work with a team spirit and do their task for the sake of people for whom we all are here. It is not to show something to anyone. It is our commitment to the people and effort for good governance. Ministers are going to villages and conducting communication for the wellbeing of the State. I witnessed sordid state of Paharias and poor areas of Santhal and will again go there in June. Ministers would again go to villages. I have told the DCs as well to spend time in blocks,” said the CM.
He, at the same time, also admitted about administrative vacuum at the local level that, according to him, was the main cause behind leaping Naxalism in the State.
“Extremism is because of administration that is often missing on ground. They find free space to flourish and challenge the system. I believe theirs is not an ideological battle but goondaism for the sake of levy. Their act begets corruption which sucks poor even more,” said Das and added that some officials had also been issued show causes after Tuesday’s interaction for dereliction.
