Despite all impediments, Arman Ali, a native of Jharkhand has carved a niche for himself in music industry. Hailing from a lower middle class family, the journey of Bollywood was a roller coaster ride for Ali. Having no background in any specialised format of musical genres, Ali went to Mumbai and started working as Sales Executive at Just Dial in order to manage the financial constraints.
“My financial condition was not good and in order to support myself, I had to start working with the private firm but subsequently I also started taking training in music and started learning guitar. Since childhood, I was inclined towards only two things music and writing,” said a budding music composer, Arman Ali from Mumbai over phone.
However, after serving for one year in Just Dial and inspite of strong resistance from his family members, he left the job in 2013, just to pursue his dreams. “I started practicing music seriously. I used to spend half of my salary in learning music and reading about ace music composers and lyricists like AR Rehman, Gulzar and other music maestros,” Ali pointed out.
To survive in the metro city without any Godfather was a tedious task, as Ali’s guardians were not in the favour of his decision as choosing music as a full time career option. “Things were tough for me, I participated in several competitions to enhance my skills during my struggle period and like any other parents my parents too wanted me to choose any mainstream field,” said Ali.
Ali life changed completely when he first met Ashraf Nagoo at film city, Mumbai. At that time, Ali was associated with a daily soap as an assistant director. “Ashraf Nagoo gave direction to my struggle. He took me to meet Sahil Multy Khan, music director of the film DHARA 302 who was working for his upcoming untitled debut bollywood film,” informed Ali.
Ali has worked in few serials like Mahi-Sagar, Siyasat and Saraswatichandra as Assistant Directors during his struggle period. But after the success of his debut film, Ali got recognition and is presently busy with his untitled music albums along with that he has few offers from ace music composers and lyricists of industry to work with.
“The talk is on with music directors and if all goes well, I will be teaming up with music composer Sachin-Jigar for my next venture,” Ali added.
