City resident Akash Kumar Ravidas will represent India in 52 ISSF shooting championship in Changwon of South Korea. But he lacked the kind of rifle needed for practice before getting into such bigger events. For Ravidas, it si a matter of relief that Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha today came forward in his support and shot a missive to Union Sports Minister Rajvardhan Singh Rathore.
In his letter, Sinha requested Rathore to help this talented shooter who has won several medals in national level shooting tournament and finally getting selected for an international championship at South Korea.
Sinha in his letter said that Rathore is doing tremendous job by motivating players in and around the country so that they can give their best. He said this was the reason why, many players performed well in various national and international tournaments. He said shooter Ravidas hails from his constituency who proved his talent in recent tournaments.
He said ISSF championship is schedule to start from August 31 and continue till September 15. He said for Ravidas, major tragedy is that he is financially weak and so not in position to purchase a rifle which he needed for shooting practice.
Sinha requested Rathore to help Ravidas from his ministry fund so that he can purchase the kind of rifle he needed. He said Ravidas if helped financially will definitely prove himself in the coming 2020 Olympic.
