Palamau SP AT Mathew has sent in a company of Jharkhand Armed Police to the two villages of Sripalpur and Bardag under Pipra block, in the wake of escalating tensions there.
There have been allegations of an assault on Scheduled Caste men of Sripalpur by aggressive Bardag residents belonging to the backward community.
After the incident occurred a few days ago, Mathew said he too had gone to these two villages and taken stock. Both villages have lodged contradicting FIRs against each other. Mathew said Section 107 of CrPC has been invoked against 40 people from Sripalpur and Bardag.
A fire had broken out at the location of a yagya and Bardag’s natives thought this to be of the handiwork of Sripalpur. They beat up some of the Scheduled Caste men on the night of Holi. PNS
