The Pet Crematorium was officially opened by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, and Ruchi Narendran, President, Jamshedpur Kennel Club. The inauguration was also graced by Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, President of the Tata Workers’ Union (TWU), alongside other dignitaries and distinguished guests who witnessed the unveiling of this much-awaited initiative.

Speaking at the event, Chanakya Chaudhary emphasized the importance of this facility as part of Tata Steel’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life in Jamshedpur through responsible and sustainable practices. He noted, “We understand the emotional bond between pets and their owners, and through this initiative, we aim to provide a dignified, compassionate, and environmentally conscious farewell for beloved pets."

The Pet Crematorium, designed with utmost care for both pets and the environment, offers an accessible and affordable solution for pet owners. The cremation service is available for pets weighing up to 50 kg, with a nominal charge of ₹3,000. The facility, which operates throughout the week during daytime hours, is conveniently located near Marine Drive, accessible via the road next to the zoo.

One of the standout features of the crematorium is its use of a gas-fired system, ensuring that the cremation process is both environmentally friendly and highly efficient. The facility’s commitment to hygiene and public health standards makes it a reliable and responsible choice for pet owners.

The crematorium’s establishment underscores Tata Steel’s proactive approach toward creating sustainable infrastructure that balances the need for compassion with environmental responsibility. The initiative offers an eco-friendly alternative to traditional pet burials, ensuring that pets are laid to rest in an environmentally responsible manner.

Ruchi Narendran, President of the Jamshedpur Kennel Club, expressed her support for the initiative, stating, “The bond we share with our pets is unique, and they deserve a respectful and dignified farewell. Tata Steel’s Pet Crematorium provides exactly that, while also aligning with sustainable practices that are vital for the community and the environment.”

The crematorium’s services cater to the growing need for a socially responsible and environmentally conscious method of handling pet remains. As pet ownership continues to rise in urban areas, this initiative provides a timely and thoughtful solution for pet lovers who seek a clean, hygienic, and dignified way to say their final goodbyes to their four-legged companions.

In line with Tata Steel’s ongoing commitment to the community, the Pet Crematorium offers a model of compassion, environmental awareness, and corporate responsibility. By encouraging eco-friendly pet cremation, the facility plays a vital role in maintaining the city’s cleanliness, ensuring a more sustainable future for Jamshedpur.
