An injured full grown hyena has been denied entry into Birsa Zoo in Ranchi. It was injured on NH 99.
DFO latehar VS Dubey said the injured hyena has been treated but till it springs back to its feet it requires in-house treatment.
“We approached Birsa Zoo to accept this injured hyena but Director of the zoo Ashok Kumar refused to accept citing insufficient space and that the zoo has animals more than its carrying capacity at present,” said he.
The situation has put the officials in a quandary since there is no rescue- cum- rehabilitation centre either in latehar or in the Palamu Tiger Reserve. He said he would ask the block vet doctor to arrange in house treatment for the animal.
