Improving English communication skill and industry interaction was very important for increasing employability of graduates, said Anil Kumar Mishra, MD and CEO of the Ahmedabad-based National Multi Commodity Exchange and alumnus of Ranchi Agriculture College.
Delivering a lecture on ‘Career opportunities in commodity exchange and trading’ at Birsa Agricultural University (BAU) on Wednesday (April 25), he advised the agricultural graduates to think and act differently to meet the expectations of prospective employers. “Don’t think that you are for agriculture sector only, rather you are fit for any job where benchmark is graduation and are capable to compete with any other technical graduate”, Mishra stressed. Students from Jharkhand and Bihar are have sound knowledge but lag behind in employment market due to poor communication skill in English, he held.
An alumnus of Ranchi Agriculture College (batch 1976-79), Mishra was head of coffee operation for Birla International and head of Cargil Coffee in India. A regular speaker at national international conferences and seminars, Mishra has also contributed as guest faculty of IIM, Bangalore and Ahmedabad.
