ICA writes to  WB CM over alleged police harassment

Pankaj Kumar

The Industries and Commerce Association (ICA)  in a letter to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee has  requested to intervene alleging that the police of state were harassing hard coke plant owners willing to sell product in state on different pretexts .

ICA, an association of hard coke manufacturers in its letter has alleged that police were  deliberately stopping  hard coke loaded vehicles at Dibudih check point under Kulti PS  of West Burdwan district despite needing documents  including the GST and e- challans .

The coke manufactured in Jharkhand has been sent to industries based in West Bengal for a long time but now the police have come up with a harassing attitude  and  almost all  trucks coming from Jharkhand are being stopped  for  days together in name  of verification of documents, ICA alleged.

ICA president BN Singh in a letter to the west bengal Chief minister  has requested to intervene in the larger interest of workers working here in this industry besides the manufacturers who face unnecessary difficulties due to police of West  Bengal .

A separate letter  in this regard has been sent to the chief secretary of West Bengal with a similar  request. The letter was sent on January 10.
