They also discussed on the solution for uprooting the lWE from the State as well as the strategy being adopted in this regard. Sharma however, assured all support to the State on the issue of lWE.

The IB Director also held a meeting in latehar with DGP Rajiv Kumar along with the administrative and police heads of five most affected lWE districts — Palamu, latehar, lohardaga, Gumla and Garhwa.

Sharma also reviewed security deployment in Naxal-infested areas, and also at private companies operating in the Red zone. Sources in the police department said that Sharma stressed on better connectivity of base camps in remote jungles to the Police Headquarters, other than providing better infrastructure to the remote villages in the Naxal-infested areas.

“This was basically a meeting for taking feedback from the administrative and police heads of the lWE-affected districts so that further strategies in this regard could be made to uproot the problem,” said a senior police official requesting anonymity.

“After placing young DCs and SPs in the districts, it needs to be channelised giving them better facility and support from the Government side so that they can perform in a better way as desired by the Government,” said the official.

The official further added that the IB Director was here to gather innovative ideas as well as problems from the young officers so that a comprehensive action plan could be made after assessing them properly at the Centre.

“Once a feedback is gathered from the field, proper action plan will be chalked out in this regard,” he said.

Meanwhile, the CM expressing his views during the meeting stressed on infrastructural development of the area along with proper deployment of security forces in lWE-affected areas.

“Different programmes related to skill development have been started in every district of the State which are being run as a special drive in the lWE areas,” said the CM.

Several renowned companies, banks, Central and State Governments are also running skill development programmes under their Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) which need to be further expedited, added the CM.

The CM further added that agricultural sector also needs to be developed along with the skill development so that employment opportunities could be generated in the rural areas throughout the year.

He assured that the State Government was committed in this regard. “In order to provide infrastructural facilities, a complete network of ‘pucca’ roads will be laid in the rural areas, also providing proper electricity supply to them so that self-employment could be generated on the basis of skill development and infrastructural facilities in those areas,” said the CM.

An extensive discussion also took place regarding better health and education facilities in the lWE areas.
