The Hazaribagh Municipal Council has again started search for a piece of land to dispose the solid waste of the town.
The proposal of solid waste management is about five year old and the council has got green signal and money from the State Government to implement it but after 2010 the then council perhaps forgot this proposal.
After the municipal council election of 2013 once again the council has started search of a piece of land to implement this proposal. The chairman of Hazaribagh Municipal Council Anjali Kumari said to the Pioneer that I have made several round of talks with the officers of the district administration and very soon we will get land. She said that it was my election promise and I will do everything to implement this scheme.
The Deputy Commissioner of Hazaribagh is also taking interest in this proposal and he has assured the chairman of municipal council that their demand will be fulfilled as early as possible. The council has traced some pieces of land in the outskirts of the town and as Anjali Kumari informed that the council will very soon approach to the district administration with the proposal of chosen site.
In 2008 the board of Hazaribagh Municipal Council has proposed the installation of solid waste management plant in Hazaribagh. The highlights of this plant were manure production and generation of electricity. This proposal was sent to state government and in 2009 the state government not only approved the proposal but also sanctioned the amount needed to implement it. Since then the money is kept in the bank account of Municipal Council.
From Hazaribagh town about 1000 tons of waste is collected by the council daily. To keep the town neat and clean the council collects waste materials from all 32 wards of the town and till date it is disposed hither and thither in the outskirts of the town especially in filling the low lands.
The denizens of Hazaribagh are eagerly waiting for implementation of this proposal because it will not only make the town neat and clean but also it will produce manure which will be available to the peasants of nearby areas at low cost and electricity which will be used by the denizens of adjacent areas and municipal council for making the town more attractive after the sunset.
