State Higher Education Department officials in a meeting with Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Department Secretary Kewal Kumar Sharma on Monday briefed the centre of the programmes being run in State. Sharma was on one day visit to the State for reviewing central plans in Jharkhand and also to take note of issues the State has been facing, primarily on financial front.

“We have had an impressive meeting with Union HRD Secretary, as we have briefed him about what the Government has been doing in order to not only improve quality higher education, but also to help State taking maximum benefit from Central plans. lots of things have taken place during last 1,000 days of Government in State and the centre has expressed satisfaction over what we have tried to achieve in due course to promote higher education and related programmes,” said Higher and Technical Education Department Joint Secretary KP Singh on Monday who was present in the meeting along with Department Secretary Ajoy Kumar Singh and other officials.

He said that Sharma was keen to know what Jharkhand was doing in order to promote and strengthen programmes like RUSA (Rashtriya Ucch Siksha Abhiyan), TechIT, and other centrally funded programmes. “It was more a information sharing meeting in which the centre has reviewed its programmes in State which they have been doing since some time by visiting State after State, and we have shared our concerns and what exactly we have been willing to expect from centre to promote those plans as far as provision of finance is concerned,” added Singh. However, he categorically denied about the department getting any special or particular instruction from Centre in this meeting.
