The Ranchi Municipal Corporation issued a notice on Sunday directing all the bulk waste generators of the city to install a waste management system in their own premise.

The notification mentioned that the Solid Waste Management Act, 2016, notified by the Government says that any premise which generates 50 kg waste in a day comes under the category of bulk waste generators.

City manager Sandeep Kumar said, "Bulk waste generators will include all the market associations, hotels, restaurants, banquet halls and other residential and commercial establishments which produce more than 50 kg garbage in a day."

These bulk waste generators have been given a time of 60 days to install a waste management system in their premises.

The system should have the facility of segregating the waste into three parts including biodegradable or wet waste, non biodegradable, dry or recyclable waste and domestic hazardous waste.

"After 60 days from the date of issue of this notification Ranchi Municipal Corporation will not be collecting garbage from the premises which comes under the category of bulk waste generators," Kumar said.

The city manager informed that RMC would help out the owners of these places in case of any confusion of query. “In past we have had meetings with the owners of restaurants, hotels, banquet halls and other bulk garbage generators and showed them presentation regarding the installation of system.

If they need any further support we will provide them guidance,” he said.
