Heavy rush on last day of DBT-l deadline

PNS

The deadline set by oil companies to provide subsidised lPG cylinders without availing Direct Benefits Transfer for lPG (DBT-l) or PAHAl scheme concluded on Tuesday. Those who have connected with the scheme will receive the subsidised amount of domestic lPG in their bank account from April 1. Those who missed connecting with the scheme will have to purchase cylinder in the market price without availing subsidy benefits.

The communication gap over the notification of the scheme was seen among consumers and agency authorities on this last day. A bank employee at JSFCS Gas Agency, Hinoo was filling the form in hurry. When asked about the reason he said, “The gas agency people told me that I can fill the form even after March 31. The only difference is that I will start receiving subsidy benefits in the bank account later.”

At Kanke Road’s Devi Gas Agency, Vishal linda, a consumer said, “Earlier, I was not aware that documents including my domestic lPG Copy’s photocopy with Aadhaar number or bank passbook number have to be submitted in the agency.  Few days back, I had submitted the documents in the bank.”

An Indane agency staff at Ratu Road said they were not pressurising their consumers to submit the DBTl form by today. “Submitted documents of consumers by March 15 have been processed and they will receive the DBTl from April 1 but documents of consumers received and not processed after this date may be devoid from the benefits for some days,” said a staff at JSFCS Gas Agency.

However, Indane’s Chief Area Manager for Ranchi Uday Kumar said, “March 31 was the last date to avail DBTl scheme. People who applied for the scheme in the last week of the March would receive the subsidised domestic cylinder after seven to 15 days in April. But, the seeding process will continue in our agencies.”

Notably, under the DBTl scheme, the oil marketing companies will not sell cylinders at the subsidised rate from April 1. All lPG consumers will have to buy the cylinders at the market rate from a company wherein cash subsidy will be directly credited to their back account.

The Government subsidy for the first 12 bookings depending upon the cylinder’s market price on the booking date will be transferred to the consumer’s bank account when an order is placed for a refill. When the cylinder is delivered at his home, he has to pay the market rate of the cylinder.
