Though heavy downpour with disrupted power created trouble for the residents of Bokaro, farmers in the rural areas of the district welcomed the heavy rainfall. It has left life out of gear specially for people residing in the low laying areas of Bokaro and in the satellite town Chas. Several houses in low-lying areas were inundated following the heavy rainfall .Several spots on the National Highway-23 between Bokaro and Dhanbad were waterlogged leaving many shops and houses in the few areas of Chas inundated.

It forced residents to remain indoors and even the business communities are waiting for customers.Torrent flow of Graga and Damoder River continues near the danger mark, the district authorities have warned all residents living close to the riverbanks to move to safer and higher places. The district administration issued a warning, not to go into river as water level increased in the Tenughat dam as well as in river too. Sudden release of water is expected from the reservoir of Tenughat Dam at any time, warning reveals.

Heavy downpour increased the water level into Tenughat Dam and Damoder River. “The Damoder is on peak”, officials said. While in some parts of the city encroachments made the situation worse, specially in sector 8, 9 and 11 areas where water could not flow into the drains due to choking.People living along the drains had a tough time as water entered into their homes and Khatals while several areas are found submerged due to heavy rain. Many posh colonies like Co-operative colony, BIADA Colony and others are reeling due to absence of electricity and blockage, which has forced the people to live in darkness, without drinking water.
