Old and dilapidated buildings of all medical colleges and hospitals of the state including Ranchi's famous medical college RIMS will be rejuvenated. Buildings declared 'condemned' will be demolished and those buildings which need repairs will be repaired. Ajay Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department directed RIMS as well as all medical colleges and hospitals to take action in this regard within 3 days.
Through the letter, the Additional Chief Secretary has instructed RIMS as well as all medical colleges and hospitals to inspect the buildings along with the Executive Engineer of the Building Construction Department to ensure that an incident like Jamshedpur is not repeated and the buildings which are completely damaged and meet all the criteria for declaring them condemned should be declared condemned and action should be taken to demolish them. If the damaged buildings need to be repaired, they should be repaired.
For this, the Executive Engineer, Building Construction Department should prepare an estimate and take action for repairs. The damaged buildings can be repaired from the amount of claims received under various schemes, such as Chief Minister Medical College and Hospital Management and Maintenance Scheme and various health insurance schemes. If additional funds are required for this purpose, then it should be demanded from the department. The Additional Chief Secretary has directed to submit a report to the department in compliance with the said instructions within three days.
