HC slams JPSC

Jharkhand High court on Tuesday slammed Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) for delay in submitting its reply in a case related to appointment of registrars at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University and Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University.

The single bench of Justice Kailash Prasad Deo orally observed that JPSC will be fined Rs 25000 if it doesn’t submit its reply in the next 10 days.

The court made the observation while hearing a petition filed by petitioner Nakul Kumar. The petitioner had challenged the selection process of the JPSC for the post of registrar for both universities. The court said that on previous occasions JPSC was given time to file its reply about the appointment process.

Last year, JPSC had published an advertisement for the appointment of registrar at the twin newly established universities. The petitioner was one of the applicants for the post. But he was not called for the interview saying he doesn’t possess a minimum educational qualification. Petitioner accused that applicants less qualified to him were called for the interview. On this the court had directed JPSC to file the reply.
