Hazaribagh pilgrims may be declared dead

RR Srivastava

Tahal Ram and Rameshwar Sao of village Babhanway, district Hazaribagh, are alive for July 14 but will die on the very next day on July 15, in the Government records. Both have gone on Char Dham Yatra with 16 other persons of the village on May 27. It was a month-long tour and all the pilgrims of their village have returned except them.

Srikant, son of Tahal Ram, and Sambhu, son of Rameshwar Sao, said that after the disaster they went to Uttrakhand to trace them but all their efforts went in vain. They have lodged a report of missing of their fathers in the Rishikesh Police Station but till date no information has come from there.

The Chief Minister of Uttrakhand Vijay Bahuguna has announced they will try to trace the missing persons till July 15 and after that those missing will be announced dead in the Government record. So, as per the Government records Tahal Ram and Rameshwar Sao might die after July 15 if not traced.

The pilgrims who were with Tahal Ram and Rameshwar Sao in that Chaar Dham Yatra said that after visiting Gangotri and Yamunotri both were with them in Gaurikund till June 14.

From June 15 onwards, no one did see them.

Srikant and Sambhu also tried to trace them with the help of their mobile number location but after Meerut they do not found their mobile numbers in the records anywhere.

The family members and relatives of both missing persons are now praying the God for their safe return. They have also knocked the doors of local MlA and district administration in a hope that they will do something.

The Pioneer met the family members of both Tahal Ram and Rameshwar Sao on Sunday morning and saw that in both houses special rituals were going on for the safe return of their family head.

‘God can’t be so cruel to us’ was the punch line of their belief and hope so though the Bahuguna Government will declare them dead on Monday, their families are not going to accept it and will wait for their return.
