A 500 years old hillock of termites situated in canary hill area of Hazaribagh has made a place in the prestigious limca Book of Records.
It was Mrityunjay Kumar, the secretary of the Canary Eco Club, who had first reported about this hillock in August last year.
The height of the hillock is 9 feet 8 inches. It is largest hillock of termites in India. The secretary of canary Eco club Mritunjay Kumar said that, "I first noticed it in the month of August last year. The unique kind of structure formed by the termites spread in the huge area of about 20 feet attracted me and when I measured it found its maximum height to be 9 feet’s and 8 inches. When I went through the record books found that the largest hillock in India is of only seven feet height. Then I reported to the limca Book of Records and to archaeological department which dated it to be 500 years old after inspection and investigation."
On this basis it has found a place in the limca Book of Records and editor Vijay Ghosh of limca Books has provided a certificate of its inclusion in the nature section of 2016 edition to us. Secretary Mrityunjay said that my club is working in this area work since last 12 years and our demand is to declare this area as a tourist spot. He further said that that this is the right time to observe this area with a new vision, because there are no wild animals and thick jungles.
There are lot of colorful birds, bees and butterfly which make the atmosphere pleasant.
He said that this was also mentioned on page no 263 in Make in India week. This is the first time when any unique item of Hazaribagh has been included in the limca book of records.
