Harassed women revolt against Palamu employer

PNS

A glimpse of women’s empowerment was recently seen in a nondescript village - Khura Khurd in Chainpur block, Palamu. This tribal-dominated village saw scores of women up in arms against a stone crushing plant owner there, levelling a volley of accusations like making under-payment of wages to workers to teasing young girls working there.

Sources said such was the banner of revolt of the village women folks that a DSP, Ajay Kumar, had to be rushed there for an on-the-spot inquiry. Women walked down to Daltonganj and met the SP, YS Ramesh too recently on this issue of their harassment and indignity being inflicted allegedly by this owner.

Speaking to The Pioneer, DSP Ajay Kumar said, “I went to the site of revolt and spoke to the women there. There was substance in the complaint of the women there. The stone crushing plant owner is a man of high-handedness. He will face the music.”

The north forest division personnel too are peeved with this owner as one official said that this plant was sealed by the forest officials which the owner or his henchmen got broken down which is a violation of the forest Act. Ajay Kumar said the owner, S Singh, has not yet been nabbed.
