The Chancellor of the State universities cum Governor Syed Ahmed will Palamu’s Tarhassi block inaugurate a college on December 16. The Raj Bhavan has sent a fax message in this regard to Deputy Commissioner Palamu Manoj Kumar. Kumar confirmed the message of the Raj Bhavan. The college was established by the family of Congress MP Ranchi Subodh Kant Sahay. Sahay’s roots are in Palamu’s Tarhassi and the man and family is too attached to it said sources close to this family here.
The chancellor has a two-hour programme here. He will also review ungoing development works as well. A close relative of the Ranchi Congress MP Prakash K Verma, a former registrar of the Nilamber Pitamber university and a senior associate professor in the department of Geology in Ranchi University, has arrived in Daltonganj to oversee the arrangements for the Chancellor’s visit on December 16 at Tarhassi. Speaking to The Pioneer late in the evening of Friday, Verma said, “I am in Palamu to ensure that the function passes off peacefully and admirably.” Sources said the Chancellor’s visit was a long overdue here. Palamu administration has taken elaborate measures for the Governor’s visit here on December 16.
Meanwhile, the PlFI has given a bandh call for December 17. There was some initial confusion with regard to this bandh as first report hinted of this bandh on December 16 but later it was described to be posted for December 17. The PlFI is too sore with the Palamu police as the police have in the recent past crippled and almost paralysed the PlFI when it caught eight cadres of PlFI and recovered five weapons, including one INSAS rifle of the police, which was looted by the CPI-Maoists and one AK-47.
