A number of schools in the city are in awe of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech on the occasion of Teacher’s Day and his vision of transforming students as assets of the nation. Schools authorities including principals and teachers along with students seem to be all set to actualise the proposition suggested by the PM.
Though the school principals feel the need of support from their respective school managements as well as the State Government will prove vital in the process of nurturing the students.
Braj Kishor Pandey
Principal, Marwari Plus Two School, Upper Baazar
“Constant efforts were already made by the school management to nurture the students and showing them the right path but PM Modi’s speech has given us a new impetus. Sadly, we lack on Modi’s vision of Digital India as amalgamation of technology with our teaching system is still a challenge for us.”
D R Singh Principal, Taurian World School
“PM’s vision of developing skill among the students is only possible by giving importance to practical knowledge over theoretical knowledge. If I ask a Physics teacher of my school to make a fused plug he is unable to do so as he does not have the skills though having the theoretical knowledge. Modi also showed his concern over students not opting for teaching as a profession in his interaction with the students on the occasion of teacher’s day.”
Amrit Mitra
National Awardee teacher, Gumla
“It is the society that has degraded the image of teaching as a profession. The students are more concerned about the pay package rather than respect. As per my experience teaching is one of the most respectable jobs though it has not got its due as a profession.”
Seema Chitlangia
Principal, Bridgeford Public School, Tupudana
“In western countries teaching is a highly paid profession where as in our country the situation is relatively different. The state of this profession has improved and particularly girls are unveiling their interest towards this profession. Modi’s mantras sounded simple and quite doable though the support of the state governments will be the key for its implementation.”
Gaytri Kumari
Teacher, Shivnarayan Kanya Vidalaya,Upper Baazar
“We have been trying are level best to improve the standard of education by taking the help of various educationalist, but the support of the state government will provide escalation to our efforts.”
