Grand alliance test run in Godda: Bihar Min

PNS

The three allies – Rashtriya Janta Dal, Janta Dal (United) and Congress—are all set to join hands in order to replicate its Bihar success model in Godda bypoll.

Concluding his three-day visit to the State, Bihar’s Rural Development Minister and JD-U leader Shrawan Kumar on Monday shared party’s plans to work out the grand alliance charm for the second time to stop Bharatiya Janata Party from picking Godda.

“On the lines of Bihar, we will contend in Godda by-polls once again as a Mahagathbandhan. The motive will remain the same too, to prevent BJP and prevalent communal forces from acquiring power,” Kumar said, addressing a press conference on Monday.

On questions of which one of the three parties will nominate their candidates for the by-polls, Kumar stated that these aspects will soon be straightened out by the parties’ top brass. Sanjay Prasad Yadav has already been named by RJD as its candidate for the Godda bypolls.

“The leaders of Mahagathbandhan will deliberate over the matter of which party will project its candidate for Godda, or who will be the most apt candidate. Deserving candidates, candidates who have already contested from the constituency should definitely be given priority. All parties of the alliance ought to extend their support to the nominated candidate,” Kumar stated.

He also shared his plans to add to JD-U’s human resources in Jharkhand through party’s ongoing recruitment drive in the State. “I have conversed with the State’s party leaders regarding expansion of the party in Jharkhand. We have set a target of enrolling five lakh new members in the party by the end of April,” said Kumar.

Taking potshots at BJP-led Jharkhand Government, Chief Minister Raghubar Das in particular, Kumar called it a failure in all respects. “Farmers have been discriminated against in this regime; their paddy has not been brought as per plans by the State nor have they received payments for their last year’s produce,” he said.

He further added, “The business class of the society which supported the present government to power is not safe from homicide and abduction either. We have established rule of law in Bihar, it seems the real jungle raaj is here in Jharkhand.”

And to express their dissent on these fronts, the party has planned a district-wise stir across the State on March 15. “Protests may seem in some parts of the State and weaker in others, but workers will make their presence felt in every district. Additionally, a media cell has also been formed for compiling problems and complaints of the denizens of Jharkhand and forwarding the same to media for their attention,” said Kumar.
