Come July 13 and lord Shiva devotees will get opportunities of making a smooth stay at Deoghar. The occasion would be the month long Shravani Mela beginning near Baidyanath Dham temple marking the Sawan season from this date onwards.

Tourism department has decided to launch ‘Shiv Dhun broadcasting’ within eight to ten radius of the temple premises. Besides, devotees or Kawariyas can see the details of tourist spots on lED display boards set up on the route to the temple.

“Tender for this first ever Shiv Dhun will be opened on June 24 whereas the tender for Shiv related audio visuals are to be opened on June 27,” Tourism Deputy Secretary Sunil Kumar Sinha said on Friday.

“However, like last year civil aviation department will not be providing Ranchi to Deoghar air-travel scope exclusively for worshipping lord Shiva of Baidyanath Dham,” Sinha added.

At Deoghar, district administration is working at war footing level to manage basic arrangements of Kawariyas during their trip to the temple.

Referring this fact, Deoghar Deputy Commissioner Ameet

Kumar said, “Every year, Kawariyas have to walk in the hot sand from Sultanganj to the temple. So, we are setting splinters around 10 kilometers path of the temple so that they can take a shower or pour water on the sand for their convenience. Also, entrance of the temple is modified. Earlier, devotees had to use staircase after passing the footbridge but this year they can easily walk through the ramp after the footbridge.”

“As many as 34 administrative shivirs and 24 health shivirs will be seen in the route used by Kawariyas from Sultanganj station to the route of the temple,” Kumar added.

Notably, to reach the temple, devotees have to get down at Sultanganj railway station from where they collect the holy water for offering on the deity. Else, auto-rickshaws from Jasidih station are directly available to the temple.

Notably on June 17, Chief Secretary Sajal Chakraborty had held a meeting regarding preparations for this fair wherein Information Technology Principal Secretary NN Sinha informed about dial-1967 set up for emergency services for

persons in times of need.
