Govt panel to decide on reopening of schools

PNS

The ministry of Home affairs on Monday issued new guidelines for reopening schools, colleges and educational institutions in graded manner from October 15. The Centre, which has issued detailed guidelines, has put the onus on State Governments to take a final call on reopening schools.

Sources said that the State government is yet to take any final decision on reopening of schools.

The Government's concern is students’ safety. Jharkhand Education Project Council, project director Shailesh Kumar Chaurasiya said, "The State government till now has not taken any decision on reopening of schools. The final decision will be taken after consultations at chief secretary and disaster management authority."

Chaurasiya further said that students’ safety and health will be first priority.

The state education department regarding reopening of schools had even taken parents’ feedback twice, during which most of the parents were of the opinion of not opening the schools at this moment.

Most parents were of the opinion that schools should be reopened only after a vaccine arrives in market.
