Former Chief Minister Arjun Munda on Thursday accused the incumbent Government of JMM-Congress-RJD of misleading voters of the State by resorting to petty politics and raising issues to hide its inefficiencies. Munda cautioned the constituents of the coalition Government about taking people for a ride especially on tenancy acts.
“The present Government is misleading people. People of Jharkhand understand and they have begun disregarding them. This Government should tell its achievements but the issues they have raised are an attempt to draw mileage out of it,” asserted Munda.
The former CM questioned integrity of the Government in raising issues like Chotanagpur Tenancy (CNT) Act, Santhal Pargana Tenancy (SPT) Act and blamed them of tweaking the acts whereas spreading fear among the Adivasis about the Bhartiya Janta Party. Notably, JMM’s leaders on quite a few occasions accused the BJP of harbouring intentions to amend the two tenancy laws to cause harm to the interest of the Adivasis.
“Everyone knows about CNT and SPT. The incumbent government had made attempts to amend the acts so that they can get benefit of it. They tried to mortgage lands of Adivasis. Since they have nothing to say, they are spreading rumours that the BJP is trying to amend the CNT and SPT acts,” maintained Munda.
He asserted that contrary to the rumours spread by the opposition, the BJP has set its priority clear and that are the promises made in the party manifesto. The leader of the principal opposition asked JMM to show the existence of issues that had been incidentally their greatest poll plank, including the question of domicile and deliberately keeping the contentious issue under wraps. The draft committee on domicile had prepared a report on the matter after several rounds of meeting with members of the committee that included CM Hemant Soren also. However, the recommendations could not be passed as no consensus could be build over the draft report.
“Where are the issues that formed the part of JMM’s politicsIJ Where is the report on domicile prepared by the draft committeeIJ They should tell (people),” added Munda. The former CM stressed upon a majority Government in the State besides enumerating benefits of same party Government at the Centre and State.
