With much fanfare the most popular fair of Silli, the three-day Goonj Mahautsav was inaugurated by AJSU Chief Sudesh Mahto on Wednesday. The celebration geared up when Bollywood Star Preity Zinta became a part of the programme.
As the programme’s first day was dedicated for women Zinta through her flowery speech motivated the women to fight for their rights and raise voice against domestic violence. She said that every female must live with dignity as it is their birth right. The grand celebration and the gathering at the event which included free health checkup camp and a fair with a set of Gateway of India was liked by one and all. School children presented an array of cultural programme which reflected the rich culture of the state.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, AJSU Chief Sudesh Mahto said, “The need of the hour is that we should make efforts in the direction of overall development of the state and it is possible only when our state’s women will be self dependent. The party is leaving no stone unturned for ensuring the overall growth of women in the State.” Party MlAs Chandra Parkash Choudhary, Umakant Rajak, Kamal Kishor Bhagat, and Ram Chandra Sahis were also present on the inaugural day.
The next day of the fair will be dedicated for state farmers a free camp will be organized for the disabled in which there will be distribution of artificial limbs and equipments. Moreover, the party will felicitate Doctors working in rural areas and Gram Pradhan for their countable contribution. On concluding day, appointment letters will be distributed besides starting Sampurna Saksharta Abhiyan in Silli Assembly constituent.
