Tired of watching kids in front of the television or playing android based games in computer all dayIJ Summer 2016 is perhaps going to be a delight for soccer fans in the city, especially those kids who love to play the internationally popular game.
The Ranchi Football Club, this season, is holding a 10-day football training camp at the Birsa Munda Football Stadium beginning from May 15.
Dr. Jai Prakash Gupta, one of the key members of the club said that children above the age of 7 years can take part in the camp, where national and international players would be imparting coaching to the trainees for 10 days. “Till now 20 to 22 children above 14 years and 16 to 18 children above 7 years have applied for the football training camp. Timing for the training will be mentioned or informed later when schools are reopened from summer vacation,” said Gupta.
Ranchi, being the hub of sports activities since decades has a lot of players performing well in football. However, the craze for the game has gown down in the urban centers over the years because of lack of playgrounds and organised competitions.
“Football is not just about goal tallies and revenue figures but also inspiration and style. It is also a game of stamina and patience. And, most importantly it does not require expensive equipment. You buy a bal and just start playing,” said Manoj Singh a former Ranji player.
The timing of the football camp is from 6 am to 8 am and then 4 to 6 O’clock in the evening.
Dhoni used to be a goalkeeper before being shifted to cricket. “He used to be a goalkeeper in his school football team in his student life. He performed very well as being a football goalkeeper,” said Chanchal Bhattacharya, Dhoni’s former coach.
