In a shocking case of suicide, a 17-year-old girl student ended her life by jumping from the third floor of a shopping complex on Bistupur Main Road here on Sunday morning.
Dejected after failing in the exam, Shilpi Kumari who was a student of Jamshedpur Women’s College jumped after leaving a suicide note in which she has said that she was committing suicide as she failed in her intermediate examination. The result of the exam was declared on Saturday by the Jharkhand Academic Council.
According to information, the student sustained serious head injury was rushed to Tata Main Hospital but latter succumbed to death at the hospital. The incident took place at Yash Kamal, on the Bistupur Main Road.
The girl left suicide note in which she had written that “she was leaving the world on her own wish and had prayed her parents to forgive her for this act”. As the news spread, officer-in-charge, Bistupur police station, Jitendra Kumar rushed to the spot. The suicidal note was discovered at the hospital only during the treatment. “ We have recovered the suicide note however, investigation is on,” said Kumar.
One of the shopkeepers at the complex on the condition of anonymity said, “I heard a scream. when I turned around I found a girl lying in her blue jeans and white t-shirt flying in pool of blood,” said Singh who had been to the building for shopping.
Shilpi was originally was a resident of Chaibasa and was studying by staying at her maternal uncle’s house in Kadma. The girl’s cousin brother Saroj Mahto said that Shilpi had left her house in the morning at around 9 am on the plea of visitng Bistupur market, but around 11:30 he was informed by the police that Shilpi was admitted at the Tata Main Hospital with grievous injury.
“My sister was upset ever since the results were declared. She had failed only for four marks in Chemistry. We were shocked to know about her results as she had never failed earlier,” said Mahto while talking to the newsmen. He went on the inform that her the family members have already informed Shilpi’s parents about her death.
