Giridih remained peaceful on Monday after the brief disturbance which erupted followed by a dispute between the two groups during a religious procession which turned violent. Several vehicles were gutted in fire and shops were damaged after the crowd turned violent on Sunday.
The district administration remained engaged in holding peace committee meetings while para military forces took out flag march across the town throughout the day. North Chotanagpur Commissioner SS Meena and IG Tadasha Mishra have been camping in Giridih after the incident monitoring the situation personally.
Giridih SP Kranti Kumar Gadhdeshi also warned the people not to pay attention to the rumours. Meena has appealed the people to maintain peace and assured that the culprits will not be spared at any cost.
