PNS

long power cuts and an acute shortage of water have dealt a staggering blow to Garhwa residents just as the temperature has crossed 42 degrees mark.

Summer woes have worsened with inadequate and low water supply in many parts of the town and the daily power cuts, which is only for three hours in a day now. life has been seriously hit in the commercial and industrial areas as well.

Rajesh Sinha, a resident of Garhwa, said on Tuesday that the area was facing acute shortage of water. Tankers of the Nagar Panchayat were seen on Tuesday supplying water to residents who said they failed to meet their daily needs by storing a few buckets of water.

Residents said they no longer felt that they were living in Garhwa town as life had become as miserable as that in the rural areas. Power cuts were imposed for most times of the day. Apart from scheduled power cuts, residents also faced problems of low voltage and frequent tripping.

Ranjit Singh, a resident of Bhandariya who had come to the coelenterate for some work, said it had become difficult for him to get a photocopy of a document as there was no power. Those running photostat machines on generator sets were charging according to their whims. Another resident said he could not get his bank passbook updated as computers were not functioning because of power cuts.
