An integrated coaching orientation programme was held in Latehar to groom the young boys and girls of the district for cracking civil services and other competitive exams.
Neha Tiwary, a personnel of the district public relation office Latehar said a zoom meeting was organized under the chairmanship of DC Latehar Abu Imran where in people’s representatives were roped in.
Sources said the integrated coaching programme was a long overdue here. Those who had cracked UPSC examinations gave tips to the aspirants to achieve their goals, said sources.
Hundred such candidates are shortlisted for this free coaching facility to be started from the coming Tuesday in Latehar.
Building and other infrastructural facilities are already put in place for this free coaching, stated an official note of the district administration.
Sources said the Government of India allots fund under Special Central Assistance (SCA) to provide such educational facilities to youths in the extremism-hit areas. The SCA fund will keep rolling this coaching, they added.
The idea behind this is to wean away the gullible youths from falling in the snares of the rebels.
As Latehar district is still a stronghold of the Maoists, such an initiative is been seen as an important development.
Sources said Manika MLA Ramchander Singh and Latehar MLA Baidyanath Ram were on the screen for the meeting on Sunday.
However, Chatra MP Sunil Kumar Singh was said to be facing link issue for this zoom meeting.
The candidates are graduates and post graduates. Among the hundred shortlisted 32 are girls. Most of the girls are from the tribal community.
Among the remaining are 41 scheduled tribe boys, 32 scheduled caste boys and 24 from the OBC community. At least three candidates are from general category.
Sources said DC Latehar Abu Imran has taken pains to start the integrated coaching programme for boys and girls of the district who for reason of poverty or economic destitution are unable to take admission in high priced coaching centers located across the country.
The coaching is all free with books in the city library which too is to start catering to the candidates and general public from this Tuesday. A Ranchi based coaching centre has been roped in to impart competitive teaching here which will be coming in three time slots — morning, noon and evening.
