Four cops of the district police Bokaro were suspended over negligence in duty and overruling the order.
Taking stiff action over past road robbery incidents, Bokaro Superintendent of Police YS Ramesh suspended four cops and show caused to TN Jha, pfficer-in-charge of Herla Police Station, and asked Jha to reply within next 24 hours.
Two road robbery incidents had been reported at the same place near Bhatua Basti under Sector 11 on Dhanbad-Bokaro Road within past three months. Over hundred persons travelling on the route were thrashed and looted; dozens of vehicles were ransacked and Rs 1.50 lakhs were looted on midnight of 28 May and 4 March.
Many masked road robbers equipped with sharp weapons first blocked the road and looted dozens of vehicles including in cars, buses and motorcycle. Rupees 1.5 lakhs cash were robbed on 28 May while Rs 35 thousand robbed on 4 March, police said.
Bokaro SP had given an ultimatum of 48 hours to the OC of concerned police station for breakthrough but they failed to do so, later SP suspended the cops.
