The SPG team conducted security rehearsal and took an account of all security preparations ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival at Barbadda airstrip in Dhanbad, on Sunday. The fourth phase of the election in the six Assembly seats of Dhanbad and two of Bokaro is scheduled on December 14.

In ongoing campaign trail of BJP, Modi will address an election rally at Barbadda in Dhanbad on 9 December.  In a bid to provide foolproof security arrangement the SPG team checked the rally spot with metal detectors. Earlier the officials of Intelligence Branch (IB), Special Branch and senior cops including DIG coal-belt Dev Bihari Sharma, Superintendent of Police Dhanbad Hemant Toppo including others were reviewed the security preparations at and near the airstrip which is situated in the outskirts of the city.

Huge security cover has been blanketed around the airstrip where Modi will land trough a chopper and address the rally in support of party candidates (including alliance AJSU) of Sindri (38), Nirsa (39), Dhanbad (40), Jharia (41), Tundi (42) and Baghmara (43), Bokaro (36) and Chandankiyari (37) Assembly seats.

The candidates who are in poll fray from BJP and alliance are Fulchand Mandal (BJP) form Sindri, Ganesh Mishra (BJP) from Nirsa, Raj Sinha (BJP) Dhanbad, Sanjeev Singh (BJP) Jharia, Raj Kishor Mahato (AJSU) form Tundi and Dhulu Mhato (BJP) from Baghmara.

The assembly election in Jharkhand is scheduled in the five-phase; the first phase of polls for 13 seats was conducted on 25 November, witnessed a record turnout of 61.92 percent voters whereas the second phase in 7 naxal hits districts, witnessed a higher voting percentage of 65.72 percent on 2 December. Third phase is on 9, fourth on 14 and fifth phase is scheduled on 20 December. The counting of votes will be done on 23 December.

However, BJP is contesting the election on the name of Modi and several prominent leaders of central ministers like Giriraj Singh, Ram Vilas Paswan, Shahnawaz Hussain including other party’s star campaigner visited these constituencies earlier and sought for mandate.
