Focusing on three Cs, Character, Competence and Compassion, Minister of State, Civil Aviation, Jayant Sinha interacted with the students of Ranchi University describing his journey from Jharkhand to Harvard University. Sinha, who has adorned several hats as engineer, entrepreneur, investor, financial advisor and now as a politician enlightened the young minds on his achievements and about his successful transition from corporate personality to politician.

Citing examples from his successful academic journey and professional life, Sinha said, “An individual honesty, perseverance to work hard to achieve a target and compassion to serve downtrodden people is the key to lead a successful and dignified life. Your life experience helps you a lot in achieving the desired goal. I am returning back to the people whatever I have experienced in life.”

Sinha who returned from USA in 2010 leaving behind a successful career to serve the nation, urged to the students to stay connected with their roots and try to give back to the society whatever they have achieved in life through their vision which is helpful in overall holistic development of the society.

Answering to a query of a BBA student of Ranchi College on what made him quit the job in USA and inspired him to join politics, Sinha firmly, added, “After achieving accomplishment at several stages in professional front and as a responsible educated person, I have joined politics with the purpose to serve the people of this country. This was a collective decision of my family members too.”

He also cleared his stance to all the students present that the step is not to boost dynasty politics in India. “People often have this question that I am promoting dynasty politics. However, I want to clear that there is huge difference between dynasty politics and legacy. I am taking my father legacy ahead. After successfully completing all my professional aspirations, I have decided to join politics at an age of 50. I have not entered in politics at a young age,” added, Sinha.

Remembering his childhood days spent in Jharkhand and answering another question, his expectation from the youths of this developing State, he said, “All the students must try to carve niche for themselves in their respective field before entering in any social service domain. One cannot survive in this world with pure idealism. Everyone should be practical and must ensure self sufficiency before taking the initiative of serving people. I do believe that service can be done through various mediums. Willpower and determination is the key component required for serving the people of the society.”
