Ranchi University (RU) teachers would soon be asked to deposit around RS 5,000 to 10,000 at a time. This money would be saved as fixed deposit in the bank and the entire saved money along with simple interest added to it would be given to the teachers at the time of retirement. If required, teachers can claim for this financial help during medical emergency.
“As of now we do not have any specific funds for teachers. This finance would be equivalent to corpus fund. We would talk to the teacher unions shortly about this issue. If these teachers are convinced, we shall implement this,” RU Registrar Amar Kumar Choudhary told The Pioneer.
Hearing this news, an Assistant Professor of Ranchi College Ganesh Chandra Baskey welcoming the idea said, “This is indeed a wonderful initiative. Jawaharlal University too offers such sought of fund but on behalf of the teacher unions. We hope to get loan at interest rates if possible.” “This will definitely help the teachers who need money in emergency. I welcome this proposal,” said Post Graduate Bangla department Head Dr NK Bera.
Even for the third and fourth grade staffs of RU, happiness is finally unveiled. Now these non-teaching staffs can get six months advance from the Employee Welfare Fund (EWF) for their daughter’s marriage.
However, the fund is subject to availability of fund. “This advance shall be managed within 12 to 18 months salary of the staffs,” said RU Registrar AK Choudhary. The Syndicate of the University gave final nod to this decision which was earlier decided to only three months. With the Corpus Fund comprising Rs 47.20 lakhs University will soon begin establish Karthik Oraon Chair for Science and Technology wherein teachers from other universities would be invited to speak on latest technological developments such as Nanotechnology. AK Choudhary said, “This programme will be conducted for one to three weeks every year for the science and technology students.”
The syndicate has decided to send a proposal to the Human Resource Department concerning the promotion of the lecturers and Professors for doing Career Advancement Courses according to their designation kept from 31 December 2008 to 31 December 2013. More than 70 percent teachers are to be benefited with their much awaited promotion with this sanctioned proposal.
Present Pro Vice Chancellor (VC) of Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) Dr Anjani Kumar Srivastava who is also a faculty of RU Zoology department has been given three years lien from RU on Tuesday. This approval is to be counted since his joining as VBU Pro VC in September 2010.
The Syndicate also accepted the JPSC’s promotion order of three Gossner College teachers namely Dr Jyoti Toppo, Sadhan Kumar Murmu and Christ B Tirkey.
